We Protect the Air and Water
Protecting the AirOur Safety Patrol 4th and 5th grade members participated in the Breathe Better program by disseminating information to others about the importance of not idling their cars. They collected and reported data regarding the number of idling cars.
Our 5th grade Green Team members provided each classroom with a plant. They added a note to each plant such as, "Plants give us fresh air." Protecting the WaterStudents take part in a Water Ration Challenge in order to learn the importance of protecting our water supply. Our Green Team members made small fliers and posted them in the restrooms beside the sinks. The school News Team also announced the water ration challenge on our school news program. They are encouraging students to turn off the water while soaping their hands. Pictured here, you will see survey results: baseline and final data. The amount of students who claim they now turn off the water while soaping their hands has increased from 13% to 29%. The number of students who now "sometimes" let the water run has increased from 45% to 56%. The number of students who allow the water to run the whole time they wash their hands has decreased from 42% to 14%. We had a different number of respondents on each survey.
